The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in Huntersville, North Carolina, with teams located primarily in the southeastern United States as well as Illinois and Indiana in the midwestern United States. The Quad City Storm SPHL team announced to begin play in the 2018–19 season as a member of the Southern Professional Hockey League. Now entering its 15th season of play, the SPHL has firmly established itself as one of the top professional hockey leagues in North America.

The Storm play all 28 regular season home games in the TaxSlayer center, one of the premier entertainment venues in the Midwest. The arena seats 12,000 fans and is located on the bank of the Mississippi River in Moline, Illinois. The TaxSlayer Center has garnered numerous architectural industry awards since its construction and has hosted incredible acts like Paul McCartney, KISS and Neil Diamond.
