Rivermen Sneak By Storm
The Storm came up just short Friday night in Peoria in a back and forth game versus the Rivermen, final score 3-2.
Kevin Patterson got the scoring started with a wicked deflection over the shoulder of Peter Di Salvo.
Al Graves answered the Patterson tally at 15:49 of the first when he popped home a loose puck in the crease. John Scully and Skyler Smutek recorded the assists.
Austin Hervey gave Peoria a 2-1 lead when he hacked at a carom off the back boards that spun into the open net and made it 2-1 into the second intermission.
Again, the Storm answered, this time a minute fifteen into the third when Vincent Beaudry fought through a stick check, drawing a penalty, and tapped the puck from behind the net to Mitch Mueller who fed Shane Bennett for his fifth goal with the Storm.
Peoria would take the lead for good after being granted their fifth power play of the game. Ralfs Grinbergs one timed a slap shot just inside the low post eleven seconds in to the man-advantage and made it 3-2. Peoria finished 1-5 on the PP and the Storm were 0-1.
