Short Bench Stings Storm

The injury bug has not been friendly to the Storm this season and the plague continued this weekend.  Due to injuries sustained in Friday night’s game Phil Bronner and Austin Hervey were unable to dress Saturday night versus Evansville and the Thunderbolts were able to emerge with a 5-1 victory.  With Vinny Caligiuri and Jake Schultz on IR and Junior Harris and Donald Olivieri on ECHL rosters the Storm were forced to skate with nine forwards and five defensemen.

The Thunderbolts came out hot and led 2-0 after one.  Dalton Mills got the Storm on the board early in the second period with a power-play goal assisted by Joe McKeown.  Mills sniped the top left corner for his second goal of the weekend.  The Storm would not score again.

Evansville added two more in the second period and one in the third to come away with their third win of the year.

The Storm return to action Saturday at the TaxSlayer Center versus the Huntsville Havoc!  Get your tickets at QuadCityStorm.com.
