Storm Rock Thunderbolts On KISS Night

Things clicked for the Storm on Saturday night in Moline as they defeated the Evansville Thunderbolts 5-1 to take three of four possible points out of the weekend series.

Al Graves got the party started when he deflected a Ben Boukal point-shot by Thunderbolts goaltender Braeden Ostepchuk to make it 1-0.  For Graves it is his sixth goal of the season.

Stephen Gaul made it 2-0 with a quick snapshot at 15:40 of the first after John Scully forced a turnover in the corner off a faceoff and shoved the puck to Dalton Mills who found Gaul alone in front.  The goal gave the Storm all the momentum heading into the locker room.

The third goal of the game came at 6:24 of the second when a breakaway for Vincent Beaudry got a friendly bounce and popped over the shoulder of Ostepchuk.

Phil Bronner put the game completely out of reach with his third of the season and an emphatic guitar solo celebration to make it 4-0.  Bronner came free in the slot and rifled a rebound from a Tyler Minx attempt from the blue line through traffic.

At 11:13 of the third Shayne Morrisey spoiled an effort by Peter Di Salvo that certainly felt like it should have been rewarded with a shutout.

The Morrisey goal was answered with the prettiest goal the Storm have scored in over a month.  Dean Yakura forced a turnover in the neutral zone and passed to Shane Bennett.  Bennett sped across the blue line and hit Phil Bronner who stared at the net and then fed Yakura for a one-time bomb that set the final score at 5-1.

The Storm are back at the TaxSlayer Center Friday March 22nd to take on the Peoria Rivermen!  Get your tickets at QuadCityStorm.com.
