Controversy Stains Thrilling Game In The Rocket City

The Storm battled to earn a point Friday night in Huntsville through a game that was as entertaining as it was frustrating.

Al Graves got Quad City on the board with his second goal of the season in period two.  Tyler Piacentini scored his first of two goals two minutes later at 6:53 to tie the game at one.

John Scully and Shane Bennett buried the next two scores in the game at 14:03 and 16:36 of the second to make it 3-1 before Piacentini got his second and made it a one-goal game again.

Scott Trask tied the game roughly half way through the third period and Mitch Mueller got the Storm back on top three minutes later.  Trask scored his second with just two minutes and forty-nine second to go in the game and sent the party to overtime.

Both teams earned plenty of chances in the 3 on 3 but a late, and I mean late, score from Nolan Kaiser gave Huntsville the second point.

Upon video review it appears the goals was scored approximately .9 second after the overtime session had expired, but the call on the ice could not be reviewed and the score stuck at 5-4.

The Storm will look to earn a second and third point in this weekend series tonight at 7:00 at the Von Braun Center.  Listen live on 107.7 Vintage Radio.
