Slow Start Sticks Storm

The Storm lost for the first time in 2019 Saturday night at the TaxSlayer Center 7-2 versus the Huntsville Havoc.

The visitors scorched out to a 2-0 lead with goals thirty-one seconds and one minute and thirty-nine seconds into the first period.   After the first ten minutes of the frame it seemed that the Storm had righted the ship, but with less than four minutes left in the period Scott Trask scored his first goal of the year for Huntsville to put Quad City down three.

The Storm rallied back and outplayed the Havoc in the second.  John Scully got the Storm on the board with his fourth goal of the season at 8:09 of the first and made it a one-goal game a minute and fifty-four seconds later.  The Storm went to the power-play for the first time with under five to go in the second and created a flurry of chances in the first ninety seconds of the advantage.  Huntsville was able to clear the zone and Ryan Salkeld snaked his way around the defense to go in alone on Peter Di Salvo and put the Havoc back up two with a short-handed goal.

The lead held for Huntsville into the second intermission and the deflation from the fourth Havoc score seemed to linger on the ice.  Kyle Sharkey scored three minutes and six seconds into the period and two more goals would be added in the final frame to set the final score at 7-2.

The Storm will bounce back next weekend against the Knoxville Ice Bears Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the TaxSlayer Center!!  Get your tickets at QuadCityStorm.com.
