Special Teams Spoil Weekend Series Versus Peoria

Special teams have been a strength for the Storm most of their inaugural season, but this weekend the power-play and penalty-kill fell flat.

Saturday night the Storm went 0 for 4 with the extra attacker and allowed three power-play goals to the Rivermen.

Despite the lackluster special teams the Storm were tied at two with less than ten to go in the third period.

Tommy Tsicos got the Storm on the board in the first period to make it 1-0.  The Rivermen answered with two scores to take the lead heading into first intermission.

Michael Casale scored his first goal in a Quad City jersey two minutes into the second to bring the game back even and the Storm and Rivermen traded chances down the stretch.

The eventual game-winner was scored by Joe Kalisz who was forgotten about in front of the net and snuck a snapshot passed Peter Di Salvo.  Peoria would add a power-play and even strength goal and record their seventh straight victory, remaining undefeated in regulation on home ice.

Next weekend the Storm hit the road to battle the Knoxville Ice Bears in Ol’ Rocky Top.  Catch the game on 107.7 WQUD Vintage Radio and get your tickets for the Storm’s next home game at the TaxSlayer Center on February 9th.
