Di Salvo Shines In Shootout Win

Another game decided by one goal; but this time the Storm can celebrate.

Quad City took the middle game of the weekend series with the Knoxville Ice Bears 3-2 in the shootout.

Mitch Mueller scored the first goal of the game off a frantic scramble that encompassed the net behind Knoxville’s Michael Santaguida.  An initial shot from Austin Hervey was saved, as was the first rebound try by Vincent Beaudry.   Mueller fired home the finish and made it 1-0.

Period two featured a disastrous start for the Storm.  Ylitalo and Cesarz registered goals for the Ice Bears in the first fifty-three seconds of the period.  After sixteen and a half minutes of back and forth Vincent Beaudry equalized the game and the score would stay at 2-2 through overtime.

Peter Di Salvo was the first star of the game and shined brightly from start to finish.  Four phenomenal glove saves in regulation and four denials in the shootout highlighted the W for the Mad Dog.

The offense in the SO came from Shane Bennett who put Santaguida in the blender with a greasy head fake and fill Bronner who’s goal ended any chance for Knoxville to even things up.

The Storm go for the rubber match tomorrow afternoon at 2:00!  Get your tickets at QuadCityStorm.com!!
