Short Bench Sinks Storm 3-1

The Storm were not able to overcome a short roster Saturday night in Evansville, losing 3-1 (ENG) to the Thunderbolts in the back half of a home and home.

The hosts lit the lamp first when CJ Blaszka buried a rebound opportunity in the crease that the Storm were unable to clear.

Evansville brought that 1-0 lead into the second period and the Storm erased it when Nathan Pelligra scored his first professional goal.  Similar to the Bolts first tally, Pelligra pushed a rebound chance through the crease and in to the net with assists from Joe McKeown and Cody Walsh.

The contest stayed tied into the third and was broken when a pass from Tyler Howe deflected off Eric Salzillo, off the post and into the net behind Ryan Mulder.  Evansville added an ENG to make it 3-1 with 18 seconds left and would win by that score.

Mulder played very well in net in his first SPHL game saving 39 of 41 shots.

The Storm return to the TaxSlayer Center on New Year’s Eve at 4:00 to battle the Peoria Rivermen!  Get your tickets at QuadCityStorm.com.
