Rivermen Hang On To Win Morning Game At Home

Thursday in Peoria the Quad City Storm fell 2-1 against the Rivermen in the fifth battle of the Cold War On 74.

Joe McKeown started the scoring in the first period when he deflected a shot from the point by Sean Kacerosky past Rivermen netminder Storm Phaneuf to make it 1-0.  The goal was scored on a 4-3 power play.

Peoria tied the game late in the first, also on the powerplay, when a failed clearance turned into a wrist shot from the circle that snuck passed Peter Di Salvo and tied the game.

After a scoreless second the Rivermen found their first lead of the game when Ben Blasko fired a wrist shot through a net front traffic jam at 4:19 of the third.  The score would stay there and allow Peoria to pickup their twelfth win of the season.  Quad City falls to 5-8-2 on the year and will return to the Civic Center tomorrow to take on Peoria at 7:15.
