Moline, Il., Oct 26, 2018 -- The Quad City Storm will enter the second battle in the Cold War On 74 with their rivals, the Peoria Rivermen (0-0-1), tonight at 7:10 p.m.

 

Opening Night Recap

The Storm (1-0-0) head into the tonight’s game following an electric comeback performance in the home opener last Saturday. The Storm beat Peoria 4-3 on a penalty shot in overtime after trailing 3-1 in the third period. The overtime goal was scored by Vladimir Nikiforov who has played for multiple hockey teams in the Quad Cities. 

 

Tonight’s game is the second of a 16-game season-series with Peoria. The teams will meet 14 more times this hockey-year to determine the winner of the Cold War on 74. The Rivermen will come to the TaxSlayer Center seven more times this season with their last visit being March 22nd.

 

New Net Minder

Eric Levine will get his first start in net this Friday versus Peoria. Levine is a seasoned goalie with experience on teams from the AHL, ECHL, and SPHL.

 

Ice Breaker

Joe McKeown scored the first goal in team history to tie last week’s game (1-1) in the second period and put the Storm on the board.

 

Quick Out of the Gate

The Peoria Rivermen started strong last Saturday against the storm leading 1-0 after the first and 3-1 half way through the third. The first goal scored was finished by Alec Hagaman. Hagaman also had an assist and the opportunity to win the game in overtime on a penalty shot.

 

About the Quad City Storm

The Storm has brought hockey back to the Quad Cities. The win Saturday was the first home opening win at the TaxSlayer Center in 10 years.
